Governing Laws and Regulations
The Zambia Institute of Architects is constituted under Chapter 442 of the Laws of Zambia, which establishes the legal framework for the regulation and practice of architecture in Zambia.
All practicing architects in Zambia must be registered with ZIA in accordance with the Architects Registration Act. This ensures professional standards and protects the public interest.
Registered architects are bound by a professional code of conduct that governs ethical practice, professional competence, and client relationships.
ZIA maintains disciplinary procedures to address professional misconduct and ensure compliance with regulations, protecting both practitioners and the public.
Architects must comply with national building codes, zoning regulations, and environmental standards in all their professional work.
